Join us on the Farmstead for Homeschool Day! Explore the work of local artisans and see how families lived on the Blackland Prairie during the late 1800’s-early 1900’s.

  • Experience farm chores including laundry, plowing and planting a field, feeding the chickens, and milking Buttermilk the Cow (our mechanical milking machine).
  • Talk with local artisans about their crafts. Artisans include: Dallas Handweavers and Spinners Guild, Blacksmith, and Cooper (barrel maker).
  • Roll your own beeswax candle.
  • Meet the farm animals: pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, Poncho the donkey and more!
  • Hear a story read by members of North 40 Storytellers
  • Enjoy a wagon ride around the farm!
  • Take part in a scavenger hunt across the 4-acre farmstead.

Wilson House will not be open for this event.

Activities open 10am-12pm; grounds close at 1pm

  • Child $12 (3-16 years old)
  • Under 2 years old – no charge
  • Adult $5 (17 years and up)
  • Museum Members get one adult ticket FREE with purchase of a child’s ticket.
  • All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Once ticket purchase is completed, you will receive an email confirmation. 

Parking

Visitors may park along Pitman Drive or in the lot on the southside of BT Furnishings. Do not park at Chase Bank. Cars may be towed. Please do not park in front of houses on Gardengrove.  

Weather and Cancellations

Events are held, rain or shine. Activities take place outside on our 4-acre farmstead.  Be prepared for possible muddy conditions if it has recently rained. Check the weather the day of the event to make sure you and your children are dressed comfortably for the outdoors.
 

If a program is cancelled due to severe weather, the decision will be made by 8am on the day of the program. An email will be sent to the address connected with your tickets. Refunds will be processed in these case
