Adult Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is right around the corner and we are preparing for our annual nighttime Adult Easter Egg Hunt! The last several years have been a huge success with larger crowds and more prizes. This year will be even bigger and better! Eager adults will show up with their flashlights and Easter baskets to experience the fierce competition of finding the 4000+ eggs hidden on the museum’s 4 acre complex.

Staycation

This Spring Break, experience what life was like as a pioneer kid on the farm.  Enjoy a self guided tour of the property at your own pace while experiencing hand-on activities and demonstrations.  Activities include chicken feeding, tractor driven wagon rides, games of the past, plowing & planting, school house visit, milking the cow, clothes washing and dish washing.  Special demonstration includes outdoor cooking.

Victorian Eggstravaganza and Spring Festival

 8th Annual Victorian Eggstravaganza and
Spring Festival

Join us for our annual Egg Hunt and Spring Festival on the historic grounds Farrell-Wilson farm.   The event will feature egg hunts for children 8 and under, house tours, wagon rides, face painting, baby animals, sheep shearing, weaving and spinning demonstrations, exhibits and much more.

We will have a baby animal photo booth so you can get up close and personal with baby chicks, lambs and bunnies.  All proceeds will benefit our FFA Ammie Wilson Buyers Club that supports Plano FFA students.  And visitors can meet Juliette and Stella who are the first breeding sheep on the farm since 1960.

There will also be a new and exciting exhibit in the Young House titled The Golden Age of Radio in Texas: from the humble crystal sets on the farm to the birth of the transistor at Texas Instruments.  An amazing display of antique radios and memorabilia will be on display for all visitors.

$7 per child.  Includes admission and egg hunt. You must register in advance to secure your egg hunt participation.
$5 for adults and guests ( no egg hunt)

It's time to kick up your cowboy boots and have some fun celebrating agricultural history and education on historic grounds of the Heritage Farmstead Museum.

Guests will enjoy a reception on the lawn of the 1891 Farrell-Wilson house, delicious BBQ dinner, craft beers and cocktails during sunset.  After dark guests will enjoy a boot stompin, two steppin', honky tonkin' barn concert by Texas outlaw band Eleven Hundred Springs.

Pioneer Camp - Session I

June 11, 2018

Pioneer Camp at the Heritage Farmstead Museum encourages campers to put away the gadgets of today and experience farm life in the middle of Plano. It is 4 hours of good old fashioned fun with a smattering of chores which include caring for our sheep, chickens, guineas, pigs, and mules. Where else can you experience days gone by activities like Croquet, Graces, Horse shoes, Sack races, Basketball with real Peach Baskets and honest to goodness watermelon eatin’ contests? Campers will receive hands-on outdoor cooking lessons and there will be time to cool off with water games which include a water fight and water relays. Recommended for ages 6-12.

Session I is June 11-15.  Unable to pick your child up at 1:00?  Let the fun continue with the after camp care program.

Celebrate Dairy Month with "Let’s Get Mooving" where visitors can immerse themselves in farm life at the turn of the century.  Let’s Get Mooving will feature Buttermilk the incredible milking cow and our Southwest Dairy Farmers’ Exhibit. Other activities throughout the day include feeding our chickens, wagon rides, washing clothes the old fashioned way and much more.

At Creek Camp our campers have fun with science while keeping cool during our hot Texas summer!  The highlight of Creek Camp is a daily trip down to the creek to explore plant and animals life.  Campers will also conduct experiments, learn to be a part of a team and have a better understanding of what life was like over 100 years ago. In an effort to keep cool there will be a  myriad of water games. Recommended for ages 6-12.

A Day at the Farm

Experience what life was like on the Blackland Prairie with A Day at the Farm.  Stroll through our four acres, feed our chickens, and tour the historic Farrell Wilson House.
